Job Title:                    Coordinator, Technology

 

 

Qualifications:

  1. Computer knowledge in Google, Microsoft, Active Directory, and network infrastructure
  2. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

 

Reports to:      Superintendent

 

Supervises:      Computer Repair/Maintenance Technicians

 

Job Goal:         To coordinate the acquisition and implementation of the school district's technology program.

 

Performance Responsibilities:

 

Standard A     Leads with Focus on Academic Success for All Students

 

  1. Leads implementation of school system vision, mission, and goals in his/her area of responsibility
  • Works with Superintendent and those whom he/she supervises to articulate and promotes the school system's vision of learning and teaching
  • Constantly monitors and evaluates progress toward accomplishing school goals and objectives
  • Ensures that policies and procedures of his/her operations and programs support the school system vision of teaching and learning, mission, and goals

 

  1. Leads program planning that facilitates the learning of students
  • Uses student data (achievement data, other) to identify program needs
  • Regularly collects additional data that will inform planning from appropriate stakeholder’s groups
  • Engages all appropriate stakeholders in planning of activities
  • Develops goals and objectives, programs, and operation that are consistent with school system vision, mission, and goals
  • Ensures that unit and program plans are consistent with the school system strategic plan
  • Ensures that unit and program plans support school improvement plans

      3. Creates an organization structure that supports school system vision, mission, and              goals and enhances the probability of success for all students

  •  Organizes those for whom he/she is responsible to best serve needs of students and facilitate learning
  • Organizes daily, monthly, and yearly schedules to facilitate teaching and learning in the schools
  • Creates, identifies, encourages, and adopts innovative ideas, in turn, support learning and teaching in the schools

 

  1. Advocates, nurtures, and sustains a climate and culture conducive to learning, teaching, and improvement of schools
  • Communicates high expectations for students, professional and support staff, other stakeholders, and self
  • Treats all individuals with fairness, dignity, and respect

Standard B     Develops a Customer-Focused Programs and Operations

  •  Within his/her areas of responsibility, leads a process of identifying, prioritizing, and addressing the needs of the students and schools
  • Within his/her areas of responsibility, leads a process of identifying, prioritizing, and addressing needs and expectations of stakeholder groups whose support is needed for students to achieve academic success

 

  1. Creates an environment of collaboration
  •  Regularly interacts with educators, parents, community agencies/groups, students, and other stakeholders
  • Builds and sustains program-school relationships that support student learning
  • Develops working relationships with community agencies and the corporate sector to enhance student learning

 

 Standard C     Develops Human Resources Within Programs and Operations

 

  1. Recruits, selects, and retains quality professional and support staff
  •  Develops and implements a plan for retaining quality employees, which includes incentives
  • Makes data-driven employment and dismissal decisions
  • Ensures that applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and policies are adhered to in recruitment, selection, retention, and dismissal procedures
  • Develops and implements a multiyear recruitment/employment plan for Technology Department

 

  1. Ensures supervision and evaluation of all school system personnel
  •  Communicates evaluation policies and procedures to all department personnel
  • Consistently and fairly supervises and evaluates staff
  • Ensures that personnel appraisal data and school improvement plans are the foundation for professional development programs and activities

 

  1. Supervises and evaluates personnel
  •  Supervises and instructs those for whom he/she is responsible
  • Communicates evaluation policies and procedures to all personnel within his/her areas of responsibility
  • Consistently and fairly evaluates administrators, professional personnel staff, and support staff for whom he/she is directly responsible
  • Analyzes personnel appraisal data and translates them into individual and collective professional development plans and programs

 

  1. Promotes and leads professional development of professional and support staff
  •  Establishes orientation and induction programs for new to the unit/program
  • Creates professional development opportunities for those within area of responsibility
  • Ensures that professional plans, programs, and activities are directly linked to personnel appraisal data, unit/program goals and objectives, and student needs
  • Models professional development in his/her own professional life
  • Mentors those for whom he/she is directly responsible, builds their leadership skills, and provides them appropriate leadership opportunities

 

 

Standard D     Manages Areas of Responsibility Effectively and Efficiently

 

  1. Focuses daily operations on the work of students, teachers and schools
  •  Establishes and maintains routines and procedures that protect teaching and learning time
  • Ensures that the procedures and practices of professional and support staff in his/her areas of responsibility support learning and teaching
  • Ensures that unit/program decisions are based on the needs of students, teachers, and schools
  • Develops and maintains a three year plan on technology for the District
  • Evaluates and develops procedures for timely and cost effective repair, upgrading, and maintenance of technologies
  • Assist school personnel with MSIS
  • Designs, maintains, and updates the District Web site
  • Coordinates activities of the District web site
  • Designs, installs, and maintains LAN hardware configurations including file servers, e-mail servers, applications servers, desktops, and laptops for the District
  • Resolves all inters-software capability issues

 

  1. Creates a safe, secure learning environment
  •  Makes customers (i.e., students, parents/guardians, others) and staff feel safe and secure
  • Holds all persons for whom he/she is responsible for the following agreed policies and procedures

 

E.  Manages Resources to tile Benefit of the Instructional Program

 

  1. Manages fiscal resources
  •  Meets requirements of federal, state, and local laws and policies in fiscal management
  • Establishes sound accounting, record keeping, auditing, and inventory control procedures in his/her area of responsibility
  • Involve stakeholders in budget preparation and allocation of resources to accomplish goals and objectives
  • Forecasts program operation needs (personnel, facilities, equipment, operating) in multiyear plan
  • Market fiscal needs to the Superintendent, school board, and appropriate stakeholders
  • Identifies potential sources of external funding and pursues them

 

 

 

  1. Manages information technology
  • Applies technology to operation of his/her unit and programs
  • Projects information technology needs and aggressively seeks to acquire needed hardware and software
  • Provides assistance to faculty in utilization of technology to professional and support staff
  • Models the use of technology in his/her professional responsibilities and development and encourages similar use by others

  •  Completes tasks accurately and on time
