JOB DESCRIPTION: DIRECTOR OF VOCATIONAL/CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Mississippi administrator's AA certificate and evidence of
- A minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching and administrative experience or job related
- Experience in a leadership role and documented evidence of administrative ability with emphasis on previous experience and good personnel relations.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board of trustees may find appropriate and
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
SUPERVISES: CTE/ Schools Vocational Staff
JOB GOAL: To develop and maintain a comprehensive program of vocational technical education, and supervise the vocational center.
- Establish and maintain an effective learning climate in the vocational Supervise all instructional programs and the teaching process within the vocational center.
- Assume leadership and direct implementation of all vocational center activities. Keep abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional publications, and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field.
- Assist in the coordination of vocational technology programs in the secondary schools throughout the district.
- Assist in the coordination of vocational programs in the secondary schools throughout the district.
- Assist in the coordination of career discovery programs throughout the district. Make recommendations to the Superintendent relative to the development and implementation of new programs and the relevance and effectiveness of existing programs.
- Interview prospective employees and make recommendations concerning employment to Superintendent.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Interview prospective employees and make recommendations concerning employment to Superintendent.
- Observe, evaluate, and counsel all vocational staff members regarding their performance. Orientate vocational staff members and assist in their development as appropriate.
- Cooperate with college and university officials regarding teacher training and preparation.
- Conduct staff development training for all vocational center personnel. Conduct regular faculty meeting to inform of policy changes, new programs, etc.
- Be familiar with purchasing procedures of the district.
- Prepare or supervise the preparation of reports, records, lists and all other paper work required or appropriate
- Participate in principal's meetings, workshops, work sessions, and other meetings as required or appropriate.
- Any other assigned duties
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually.
Terms of Employment: Salary and year will be established by the Board of Education.
