Job Title: Substitute Cafeteria Worker

Reports To: Cafeteria Manager or Child Nutrition Director
Job Type: On-Call / As Needed
Location: Rosedale/Shaw MS

 

Job Summary:

Assists in the preparation, serving, and cleanup of meals in the school cafeteria. This position ensures that students and staff are served in a safe, clean, and efficient manner when regular cafeteria staff are unavailable.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve food items according to menus and dietary guidelines
• Set up and break down serving areas before and after meals
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, utensils, and food prep areas
• Restock serving lines and food stations as needed
• Wash dishes, trays, and kitchen tools
• Dispose of food waste and maintain trash areas
• Follow instructions from cafeteria manager 
• Work cooperatively with other kitchen and school staff

Qualifications:

• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
• Basic knowledge of food handling and safety practices
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 40 pounds, and perform physical tasks for extended periods
• Flexibility to work on short notice
